What Trove collects

When you create an account, we collect:

How we use your data

Your data is used to:

Analytics

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how features are used and improve the app. This includes events like screen views, button taps, and onboarding completion. Analytics data is linked to your account to measure feature adoption.

Advertising and measurement

We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. When you first open Trove, you will be asked whether you allow tracking via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you allow tracking, Meta may collect a device identifier to attribute your app install to an ad you saw. If you decline, Meta receives only aggregated, non-identifiable data via Apple's SKAdNetwork framework. You can change your tracking preference at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Third-party services

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share or sell aggregated, anonymized statistics derived from user activity (such as overall preference trends across our user base) that cannot be used to identify any individual user. We do not share your personal information (email, username, watch history) with third parties for advertising purposes. If you consent to tracking via ATT, a device identifier may be shared with Meta solely to measure ad campaign performance.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is stored for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. When you delete your account, all your data (ratings, rankings, lists, comparisons) is permanently removed. You can also email us at support@jerfan.co.uk to request deletion.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.

Children

Trove is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
